Of course most happy, as usual, were the little ones – Ori and Hope. Ori liked the most the red ball that blinks in red light just as his eyes do when he is chasing it. And Hope liked that ball too so there is a small disagreement over it )

The bigger ones as if knowing this was one of those magical parcels, patiently expected the treats! Hmmm, i am sure they recognized the envelope and knew for sure there was something delicious in there so they insisted on receiving the treats first

Valerie being such a kind person, sent me again presents. This time she melted my heart with a gorgeous brooch and sweet postcard! Valerie, you brought tears in my eyes by this gesture! I hope God returns your goodness!

How much spirit, emotion and goodness an ordinary Christmas parcels can contain? I can only imagine how many such parcels in the world are travelling right now with the hope of bringing happiness and smile to someone. This one, that i received today, brought happiness to several homeless cats that were once miserable and in pain, just there on the streets of Bulgaria. This parcel brought warmth and hope to me. Hope for a better future. The Christmas postcard brought the Christmas spirit in my lonely December. What more can an ordinary Christmas parcel contain? Nothing more! Nothing!

Valerie, thank you again from the bottom of my heart! I wish every single creature on earth feels just for once the emotion and happines you bring in my family! I wish this year they are more parcels like yours travelling worldwide today, because the magic and joy it contains are the things that make this world truly a better place!

He has a severe trauma in the back of his spine. His tail is absolutely torpid and his back legs lack coordination. He is moving like a rabbit at the moment. Doctors hope that with time maybe he will be able to control his back legs and move normally. The best news is that he is able to pee and poop without problems because there was a risk that this trauma might have caused neurological damage.

Ori is absolutely gorgeous! He is extremely affectionate! Despite his trauma, he uses the litter box on his own. He eats very well and adores human company.

He is only 2 months old and of course he is in the list for adoption. And if anyone who cannot adopt him but wants to help him, can contact us and become a virtual adopter, helping him with vet bills, food, vaccinations, etc. This will be so helpful for us because right now we have so many fosters and almost none adopters…

The other day I wrote a post titled Should You Adopt a Cerebellar Hypoplasia Cat? and I’m happy to fill you in on two comments I received.

The first was from a thoughtful woman who was considering adopting a CH cat, but became hesitant for a few reasons. While I certainly would never want to prevent the adoption of a CH cat to a good home, I did appreciate her honesty and how she was taking the adoption seriously.

The next comment from a reader was exactly what I was hoping for — another woman shared her story about her CH cat adoptions and how they’ve been incredible additions to her family. It’s stories like hers and dozens of others (and from my previous blog) that have inspired me to write this post.

So why would anyone want to adopt a special needs cat?

The reasons vary for everyone, but here are a few. If you’ve adopted a CH cat (or any special needs cat) and think I’ve missed a reason, please share in the comments!

• Cerebellar hypoplasia is a non-progressive, non-painful condition (meaning it’ll never get worse or develop into anything more), and your cat (unless she has other health complications) will live as healthy and as full a life as a normal cat. In fact, many CH cat parents say that their cat’s CH has improved with age. I know this is the case with CG!

• They (most likely) won’t jump on your countertops. This isn’t true for every CH cat, but many folks I’ve spoken with say their CH cats won’t jump (jump up, at least). I realize this may be a shallow reason for some folks, but for others it may be a serious and practical one.

• Some folks feel bad for CH cats because they look like wobbly drunken sailors. But there really isn’t any need to feel that way. Most CH cats don’t know they’re any different from other cats.

• It’s so fun to watch these cats progress. As mentioned above, some cats’ CH improves with age (most likely because of muscle development and improved coordination from playtime, etc) — but they also learn how to do things their own way on a daily basis.

• You can feel good about not only giving a needy cat a home, but giving a home to one that is considered less adoptable. Less adoptable pets, whether they’re elderly, a black cat, a pit bull dog or special needs, are often overlooked for silly reasons. Once people look past these cats’ “imperfections,” I think they learn that they’re some of the most perfect pets after all.

• Since these cats have some special needs and limitations, you’re mostly likely going to spend extra time with them than you would a “normal” cat. This extra time and energy helps develop a tight bond between you and your cat — and it’s this bond that will get you both through any obstacle.

• By adopting a CH cat, you’re becoming a spokesperson for the condition. From sharing your cat’s condition with your friends to making your vet more familiar with the condition (many aren’t familiar with it or have had CH cats as patients), you’re spreading the word that CH cats make great pets. This is essential because there’s still a stigma against special needs cats, and many are still euthanized daily because their condition is simply not understood.

• These cats are an inspiration. Living with them will give you a new appreciation for overcoming life’s obstacles. Every day their condition makes their lives a little more complicated — but they never seem to give up or mind. Their will and determination may inspire you to overcome your own obstacles.

• There’s just something about them. Call it jeux de vie or simply sweetness — but most CH cats you’ll meet are some of the sweetest you’ll ever encounter. Perhaps it’s because they have great bonds with their owners, or maybe it’s another result of their brain damage (a joke, but who knows??). Either way, there’s something about these cats that’s definitely worth the extra work.

One and a half year later me and her stayed together. I could not let her go Arven likes my cats and especially adores the little ones that i foster. Arven showed me the beauty and pleasure of long walks in the mountain. I do not know how i lived all these years without them. Arven brough a lot of positive things in my life and i can`t imagine my life without her anymore. She is still limping, she always will. This is the consequence of the canine distemper. But she turned out the be an explorer She has great spirit and among all she loves to explore nature. She is extremely active dog despite her disability. People notice her in the streets and i really hope she can be a spokesperson for all disabled animals, less adoptable animals and will inspire more people to adopt such pets.

Some special moments from our life:

He is living with me for 3 years. He is a special cat. He was born with cerebellar hypoplasia but this turned out to be his biggest advantage. He is lively, active, playful, always needing stimulation and games. His problem is that he likes to tease other cats. Some cats, not all of them. Right now he is living in my home together with 5 other cats and he likes to chase and tease 3 of them giving them a hard time. The situation is absolutely out of control and that is why i need and beg for your help – help me spread his story around and find him a new home.

He is so affectionate to people -he adores people. He can be  also easily scared so that is why i do not think he will be good company for small children.

Please, help me find him a good home finally.

This is Hope (or Nadia in Bulgarian). She was on of the homeless kittens that i found in my hotel`s restaurant while i was on a vacation there. Unfortunately i could take only her. She is a calm and quiet kitten, not so playful as my favourite tiger ones. Adores my dog Arven and likes to play with other dogs and cats. She is 3 months old.

She has blue eyes and obviously there was some siamese relative in her lineage. Her favourite thing is to cuddle in someones`s arm usually the dogs`s ones and start purring.

A small lovely girl that needs a forever home.

Nelly in her new home still a little bit confused. She spent 3 months in a transport box in the clinic, i can`t believe how she feels after all this time.
