Jack and Rijko – the story of two special cats

/On 17 th of September Rijko flew away to Munich where he was adopted together with Freya with whom he became very good friends. Only Jack still needs a home./

These are Jack (tabby) and Rijko (ginger) (aged almost 2 years). They came to me separately – first Rijko and then Jack. Rijko was found on a highway on 16 of October 2008. I took him at home and started looking for owners and home. Rijko was just adorable! Cute, cuddly and soft. Then in November 5th i saw Jack on a picture in a webside. Somebody saw him and needed help. Jack was born with a cerebellar hypoplasia and has wobbly movements. When i met him he was living with a homeless person, with many other cats, mostly his relatives in terrible conditions – dirt and stench surrounded him. I couldn` do anything less but try to help him. We went to the vet clinic where he started living. After a few weeks i took him in my bathroom. He was only 4 months old. He was so scared that he did not want to leave his transport box even for seconds. Otherwise he started panicing. In these hard times for him it was Rijko who came to help him. He started communicating with Jack and slowly made him come out of his shell. He taught him how to play because Jack never played before like a normal kitten. He knew only how to fight for life and food. They became best friends. I offered them together for adoption in England but unfortunately nobody ever wanted them for good. So, now we are still looking for a home for both of them. They are very active and playful. Even though Jack has woobly movements, he convinced me that he is a survivor. He is more active than Rijko, he is always fighting, always running on some cat business and always making me laugh. Rijko, on the other hand, is the sweetest cat i have ever seen. He likes to lick my face and hair, constantly looking for human company and touch.

They can be adopted together or separately. It will be good if they have friends because they love the company of other cats.  They are castrated, vaccinnated and chipped. They are the most adorable cat couple and their future owner will be the luckiest person to have them.

Edit from May 2010:

My other foster girl Freya formed a beautiful bond with the boys. If anyone is interested to adopt one of the boys together with her, that will be great for them. Below you can see how much they love each other.

  1. Here is a short translation for our german speaking visitors of Jack and Rijko`s story thanks to my mom:

  2. Good evening Denitsa, I am writing from Germany. I found your website by surfing around and ending up at the “Tiernotteam”site.
Compliments! You are doing a really great work!
My cats are dead, one left me last year, the other one died now in February, both already very old (16 and 17 years). I wanted to wait some time until I feel right for other cats.
Still it is not yet the perfect time, but I had a good impression about Rijko and Jack and I am thinking if they can be the ones.
In fact I am looking for two cats belonging together, because I go for work. So these two friends could pass the day playing until I return home in the afternoon.
I don’t care that Jack is handicapped. Important that he does not need help to eat or to use the toilet. And is there any medical treatment that still can/must be done?
Now it’s you turn. What would you like to know about me to check, if I can be the right one for the two cats?
    Best regards
    Silke

    • Hi, Silke, i sent you an email just before seconds.
